Megalithic site of Rante Sullukan

Rante Sullukan is a megalithic site located in La’bo’ village, Sanggalangi’ sub-district, North Toraja. The location is ± 4.5 km from the city of Rantepao. There are around 30 simbuang (menhirs) which were erected at a location of about 500 m². Rante is a Toraja language which means a vast field as a place to carry out traditional ceremonies of death.

Simbuang stones here are obtained from Panga’ and Buntu Asa, which is 1.5 km south of rante. The types of stones used are limestone and andesite stones of various sizes.
